A little make-you-feel-good story for the end of the week – there is no cat in it, for once. 😉
About two months ago, as I was taking a walk in one of the parks around here with my parents and one of my sisters and her family, I almost stepped on a small frog. It was brownish on the brown dirt, it didn’t even try to hop away…
Well, I might be a Jedi, after all, because I was that close to squash the poor thing but I still managed to sidestep at the very last moment.
I know, you may think – “Hey, it’s just a frog, and you Frenchies eat frog legs. So… no big deal.” *sigh* First off, we don’t eat frog legs very often – some of us never do, actually -, and seriously I shiver at the idea of killing any defenseless creature.
Still, that defenseless creature didn’t look well. It needed water, and though there were still a few puddles on the dirt road, they would soon dry up. So we decided to take it back home and put it in my mother’s pond.
I let go of the poor thing on one of the flat stones around the pond, and it hopped into the slightly greenish water and started swimming… but then it spread its legs and sank, belly up.
We tried to find it so it wouldn’t drown, but it had disappeared.
Poor little frog…
A couple of weeks ago, I helped my mother clean the pond, and she bought a few more water plants, that she left inside a basket in the shallow part. Yesterday, she decided to repot them, and when she was done, there was one thing left at the bottom of the black container – a small, and very alive, brownish frog!
So, yeah, it’s still alive – and it decided to stay. 🙂
Have a great weekend! ❤
Passez un bon weekend! ❤
